Each year, St. Joseph Parish gathers to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ with a Eucharistic procession through the surrounding neighbourhood. Commonly known as Corpus Christi, this feast honours the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. By walking together in prayer behind the Blessed Sacrament, the parish community offers a public and reverent witness to its Catholic faith.
Sunday began under dark and unsettled skies. Rain throughout the morning left many wondering whether the procession would be able to proceed. By the conclusion of the noon Mass, however, the rain had stopped, the roads had dried, and the air had become pleasantly cool for the walk.
Led by the cross and altar servers, parishioners followed the Blessed Sacrament along the streets near the church. Together they prayed, sang, and accompanied Our Lord through the neighbourhood in a peaceful expression of Eucharistic devotion.
As the procession continued, the clouds began to open and patches of blue sky and sunshine appeared. What had started as a wet and uncertain morning became a cool and welcoming afternoon for the parish to complete this annual tradition together.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Mass and procession, served at the altar, carried the canopy, assisted along the route, and helped St. Joseph Parish continue this beautiful annual witness of faith in the Holy Eucharist.
